Hi.

I write about repurposing old things into new, home decor and sometimes stray into whimsy.

My love affair with the fabric bloom...and my first Giveaway!

My love affair with the fabric bloom...and my first Giveaway!

I've been cutting down fabric flowers (fabric blooms) and sticking them on everything and anything since I saw how much it did for Joan Crawford.  While it didn't give me chiseled bone structure and cheekbones that could slice paper, during the late 80s and early 90s, it helped detract from my gigantic hairdo. One blizzard-y morning, (we were snowed in for days.) I started working on a bag inspired by the appliqué I'd been saving (fine: hoarding).  Collecting leads to inspiration, without fail (case and point:  Pinterest).  I love the infinite possibilities.  This is the first bag I ever made:

Early rosettes looked like this:

Collecting bits and pieces of small fabrics changed the design of the flowers.  I started cutting the petals by hand (I can't stress enough the importance of good scissors here.)  Its a very, very zen activity.

From then on, it was all about the flower.  And it still is.  How about a cluster of them on a wreath?

A month or so ago I sewed a few of my blooms onto a tank top I'd been wearing and VOILA!  There will be very few, if any, plain T's and tank tops in my closet.  You all have been so terrifically supportive in my endeavors I thought I'd REALLY thank you and spread the (colorful) love.  I'd love for you to have this:

Good luck!  If you're the winner, I'll make sure we get you the size you need.  In the meantime, you can checkout my New Etsy Store.

Stay cool, dry and safe, my friends!
