My Halloween Mantle...(mood enhancing dust and cobwebs included)
I've been out of town for a bit and feeling a little behind in getting into the spirit of the holiday that ushers in my favorite Season: Autumn. After extended playing and replaying of "The Great Pumpkin Waltz" (frankly, its almost fool-proof) I shopped my attic, kept some of the Autumn goodies in place and doctored up my mantle like this:
I kept the pinecones from the Autumn mantle, picked up some branches from outside, cut out some bats curtesy of Martha Stewart's bat templates and added my "bought-at-the-after-Halloween-sale" foam decorations, and VOILA! (I think you know by now that if it wasn't on the clearance rack, I don't own it.)
I also discovered that my typesetter and typewriter look GREAT surrounded by Halloween...The typesetter in particular takes up most of the surface of the dresser, but I made it work..
And finally I had to find a prominent place for Sally, my Mad Men inspired pumpkin..She makes me smile every time I look at her rhinestone cat eye glasses. We should all be able to pull those off with such panache.
And on top of all of this, I have made sure to include the much needed ambiance of a fine layer of dust and perhaps a cobweb or two. As you can see, I'm all about the details...
Come check out these fabulous parties and be inspired:
