Hurray for Hollywood!
I have been watching the Academy Awards since I was old enough to stay up past 8:00 p.m. Its my version of the Super Bowl: I eat Academy Award themed food, keep score cards and generally feast my eyes on every single aspect of the spectacle. I love everything about the land of make-believe, I know that under the tinsel, there's still more tinsel and I don't care. I have collected any and all memorabilia relating to Old Hollywood (the most tinselly of times) for as long as I can remember:
How could you NOT want to visit Hollywood after looking at this 1930s postcard? Or these:
For my 40th birthday, my sister and I took an item off the bucket list and went to Los Angeles. We had big plans to eat where the pretty people eat and keep our eyes peeled for any and all celebrities. Sadly, The Brown Derby is no more, but if it had been, we would have been channeling Lucy and Ethel...
We left many neighborhoods in Beverly Hills un-stalked, (naturally we bought a Star Map and yes, George Clooney's address IS listed), so we have a return trip planned. In the meantime, I will sit on my couch, judging others with abandon. HURRAH for HOLLYWOOD!!
