Hi.

I write about repurposing old things into new, home decor and sometimes stray into whimsy.

Feather Halloween Wreath

Feather Halloween Wreath

Last weekend was a heavily hyped Yard Sale weekend...with adrenaline pumping I set out to find my bliss...regretfully, after spending about $20 on gas and 4 hours plugging directions in my phone, I came up almost completely empty-handed.  Except for this:

"Looks like a bird stuffed in a basket." my teenage son said.  Thankfully for both of us, I have vision.  Inspired by some beautiful wreaths I'd seen on Pinterest, and because I already owned a grapevine wreath, it seemed obvious that this bird was going to rise from the basket..(I know, that barely qualifies as a joke..)

I had first finished the wreath with just the feathers but then I realized it looked a little too Cruella DeVil (as if there is such a thing..)  So I took apart an orange flower bush (orange peonies?) I'd bought last year and they really seemed to add the little pop of color Cruella needed.

I was armed with a glue gun for extra insurance, but mostly I just wove the feathers into the wreath.  This project took no more than an hour and it was remarkably easy.  The $4 basket of feathers (and $20 in gas) was totally worth it.  This wreath is a force to be reckoned with.
