Hi.

I write about repurposing old things into new, home decor and sometimes stray into whimsy.

Elizabeth Taylor should have used an embroidery hoop.

Elizabeth Taylor should have used an embroidery hoop.

Disclaimer:  I don't embroider and have little or no hope of ever learning.  Not to long ago I picked up a GIGANTIC embroidery hoop for .25.  I just knew I was saving buckets of money but snatching it up at that price even though I had no idea what I'd ever use it for.  Then the lightning bolt struck and I was thrilled I'd had the foresight to loosen the purse strings for those .25.

I pinned the hoops, bracelets and necklaces with long stick pins and poked most of the earrings straight through the heavy-duty cotton fabric.  As long as you use strong cotton/canvas fabric, the fabric should support almost any necklace, earring or bracelet.  Frankly, I'd forgotten I owned more than half of these pieces since they were previously kept in one big box, in your basic, standard, nightmarish tangle.

I think you'll agree this is much, much better, even if they Taylor/Burton diamond is conspicuously absent.
